About the SRE hub

Site reliability engineering is where good intentions meet pager duty. The episodes collected here dig into the parts of the job that don't fit on a slide: setting SLOs people will actually defend, spending an error budget instead of hoarding it, and running incidents without turning every Sev1 into a blameless-in-name-only ritual. The throughline is judgment under uncertainty, because reliability work is mostly deciding what's good enough and then proving it.

We keep coming back to the operational fundamentals that separate teams who sleep through the night from teams who don't: observability that answers questions instead of just emitting dashboards, on-call rotations that respect humans, and postmortems that change systems rather than assign fault. If you care about toil reduction, capacity planning, and the slow grind of making production boring, this is the corner of Ship It Weekly for you.

Frequently asked questions

What topics does the SRE podcast hub focus on?

It collects episodes on the parts of site reliability that don't fit on a slide: setting SLOs people will defend, spending an error budget instead of hoarding it, running incidents without blame theater, and the observability and on-call practices that keep production boring.

Who is this SRE feed for?

Engineers who care about reliability work — SLOs and SLIs, toil reduction, capacity planning, on-call health, and postmortems that change systems rather than assign fault.

How do episodes get added to this hub?

Episodes are matched automatically when they touch SRE topics like SLOs, error budgets, observability, incidents, on-call, or postmortems, so the list reflects the latest relevant Ship It Weekly episodes.

How is this different from the SRE news hub on On Call Brief?

This hub is the podcast: practitioner conversations you listen to. On Call Brief's SRE News is the weekly written digest of outages, postmortems, and observability changes. The two cross-link so you can switch between listening and reading.
